Good to Great is for experienced managers, particularly those moving into, or recently promoted GM. Over 15 years of operation it has been attended by participants from every corner of the U.K. hospitality business, including AGMs, assistant managers, restaurant managers, bar managers, chefs and executive chefs.

Good to Great has also been attended by many specialist functions including finance, marketing, PR and IT, project management, operations and by hospitality business founders.

The programme covers all aspects of the day-to-day management of a hospitality business. In essence it covers getting the best from oneself and others.

Good to Great is psychometrically based: we use the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument at the beginning of the programme enabling participants to understand their unique thinking style and in turn their team preferences and leadership style.

The programme covers the ‘holy trinity’ of management skills: coaching, giving feedback and delegation, all of which depend on skilful communication. The programme is based on the concept of working climate

Our clients tend to be pragmatists and so we make the programme activity based. Hospitality managers also rate authenticity and so we avoid role play in favour of reflective small group conversations, where participants can draw on each other’s experiences of working in the same context and facing similar challenges. Indeed the programme has earned its reputation from the unique opportunity it gives participants to engage with colleagues from other independent hospitality businesses.
