Great training is about more than knowing how to do the job – it is about helping someone else learn to do it with confidence. This practical, interactive course explores how people learn and what makes workplace training effective. Participants will discover how to turn their knowledge into clear, well-structured training that builds skill, confidence and independence. They will apply the learning to a real workplace task and strengthen their own communication, coaching and leadership skills along the way.
INTENDED PARTICIPANTS
People who train, induct or support colleagues as part of their role, even if they do not hold a formal management position.
OVERALL AIM
To give participants the understanding, confidence and practical tools to train others effectively – helping new or developing team members feel that they belong, understand what to do, practise successfully and become increasingly independent. To model practical strategies as we go.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Understand the foundations of effective training, including how attention, memory, practice and cognitive load influence learning.
Plan and structure workplace training so that information and tasks are clear, manageable and appropriately sequenced.
Explain and demonstrate tasks effectively, giving learners opportunities to practise, checking their understanding and gradually supporting them to become independent.
Create a supportive training environment where people feel valued, belong and can thrive.
Recognise the value of their role as a trainer and the transferable communication, coaching, leadership and problem-solving skills they are developing.
